Situational Awareness--Increasing Children’s Observational Skills Today's world is busy. People are rushing here and there to get to work, school, the store, or the next activity. Even our leisure time is filled with "busyness". And during all of it, we are distracted by digital devices. This not only leads to us missing important moments in our lives, but it also creates a higher likelihood that we could become the victim of a crime. Therefore, it is essential for adults and children and for adults to teach children to be perceptive and aware of their surroundings. Not to create fear or anxiety in children, but to reduce fear and anxiety! In the self-defense and crime prevention worlds we call this situational awareness. Situational awareness is a skill that can be improved to increase safety, create feelings of authentic security, and to prevent crime. It is also something we do everyday at Edinboro Family Martial Arts Center. If you might be interested in lessons for self-defense, karate, or family safety, please message us here or call us at (814) 734-9664. (Please leave a message if not answered immediately and we shall return your call.)
We have been serving the martial arts, self-defense, and personal development needs of area citizens since 2004. We are very proud of our track record of helping children and young adults reach their fullest potential.
Using proven teaching techniques combined with modern educational theory, our instructors quickly bring out the best in students. Our entire focus is helping each individual student develop to his or her fullest potential.
Our equipment and facility are regularly updated with the newest technologies to help students learn faster and learn better. Students are presented with progressive challenges that build up rather than tear down.
Our chief instructor has nearly 50 years of martial arts experience, more than 40 years of martial arts teaching experience, holds an earned doctorate, is a tenured Professor of Criminal Justice at a major university, is a published author, and has many tournament wins to his name. However, his proudest achievement is helping children and young adults realize their fullest potential.
Assistant instructors all pass a rigorous instructor training program prior to teaching students on their own and seldom do any teach without our chief instructor observing.
Members and their families often find themselves attending social events, movie nights, and other fun activities at the studio. Truly, when you’re a member here, you are part of a large family.
